Fencing & Fence Repairs in Galston & across East Ayrshire

A fence in Ayrshire does not usually die of old age. It gets one bad night of wind.

Nine times out of ten the panels are fine and it is the posts that have gone — rotted off at ground level where the water sits. Replacing the whole fence when three posts are the problem is money away.

John puts up new fences and he repairs the ones you have got. Panels, posts, rails, gravel boards, gates that will not shut. He takes the old wood away with him.

Common jobs

  • A panel out after a gale, or a fence leaning into the neighbour
  • A post snapped off at the bottom while the rest is sound
  • A gate dropped so it catches on the slabs and will not latch
  • Feather-edge boards loose or missing along a run
  • A whole new fence for a new house or a garden being redone
  • Gravel boards rotted where the ground meets the wood

How the job goes

No surprises and nothing starts before you know the price.

  2. PricePanels, posts, gates — you get the price for the work and the materials up front.
  3. FitPosts set properly, panels squared up, gates hung so they shut.
  4. ClearOld wood, broken concrete and the offcuts go away in the van.

What it costs

Fencing is priced per job after a look, because a run of six panels on flat ground and a run of six on a slope are not the same job.

If your fence is a boundary you share, it is worth a word with the neighbour before John starts — he will tell you where the line sits as he sees it, but the agreement is between the two houses.

Common questions

Can you replace just one panel?

Yes. That is one of the most common calls he gets after a windy week, and it is a small job.

The post has snapped but it is set in concrete. Can it be saved?

Sometimes the old concrete can be worked round, sometimes it has to come out. John will tell you which after a look, and either way the new post gets set properly.

Do you supply the fencing or do I?

Either. Most people let John bring it. If you have already bought panels he will happily fit them.

Do you hang gates?

Yes — new gates hung, and old ones taken off, eased and rehung when they have dropped.

How long does a garden fence take?

A panel or two is an hour or two. A full run down one side of a garden is usually a day. He will tell you before he starts.
