Is cement pointing bad for old sandstone?
It can genuinely do harm. Hard cement traps water in soft stone instead of letting it breathe out through the joint, and the stone erodes instead of the mortar. John will point out where that has already been done to your wall and what it is doing.
Do you work on listed or historic property?
Ordinary maintenance, yes. Anything that needs listed building consent is a conversation with East Ayrshire Council first, and John will tell you when your job is one of those.
