Most roof leaks are not a new roof. They are one tile, one ridge or one bit of flashing.

What it costs
Roof work is priced after a look, never over the phone. A slipped tile put back is a small job; a run of ridge rebedded is a bigger one. Either way you get the number first.
If John looks at it and it needs a full roofing firm rather than a repair, he will tell you that and charge you nothing for saying so.
Common questions
Do you do full new roofs?
No. John does repairs — tiles, ridges, flashings, small leaks. A full re-roof is a specialist roofing job and he will tell you if that is what you are looking at.
The leak only shows when it rains hard. Can you still find it?
Usually. Water gets in at the same place every time, and the trail it leaves in the loft normally tells the story even on a dry day.
Do you work on flat roofs?
Small repairs on flat roofs and felt, yes — a split, a lifted edge, a bad join. Give him a phone and describe it.
Is it safe to leave a slipped tile until spring?
It is not just the rain, it is what the wind does to the gap next to it. One slipped tile in October is often three by February. Get it back on.
Will you take the old material away?
Yes, always. Broken tiles and old mortar leave with him.
