A patio or a drive is mostly the bit you never see — the dig out, the sub-base, the fall that takes water away from your house instead of towards it. Get that right and it sits flat for years. Get it wrong and it is rocking by the second winter.
John lays new patios, paths, and monoblock drives, and he lifts and relays existing ones that have sunk, rocked or gone green. Old material goes away with him.

What it costs
Priced per job after a look. It depends on the area, what is coming out, what is going down, and how far the spoil has to be carried to the van — a back garden with no side access is genuinely more work than a front drive.
If your paving only needs lifted and relaid rather than replaced, John will say so. Relaying your existing slabs is cheaper than buying new ones.
Common questions
Can you relay my existing slabs instead of buying new?
Usually yes, as long as they are sound. They come up, the base gets put right, and they go back down level. It costs less than a new patio and it looks the same.
How long does a patio take?
Most domestic patios are a two to four day job depending on size and access. John will give you the days along with the price.
Do I need planning permission for a driveway?
For most domestic drives in Scotland, no — but permeable surfacing or somewhere for the water to go is the usual expectation. John will flag it if your job looks like one to check with East Ayrshire Council first.
Will the weeds come back through the monoblock?
Far less if the base and the jointing sand are done properly. Nothing outdoors is permanent, but it should not be a jungle by next summer.
Do you take the old concrete away?
Yes. Breaking out and clearing away is part of the job, not an extra you find out about at the end.
