What it costs
Grass cutting is priced per cut, and it depends on the size of the garden and whether the mower can get to it. It is one of the few jobs where a phone call and the address usually gets you close to a price straight away.

How often should grass be cut?
Every one to two weeks through the growing season is what keeps a lawn looking right. Most people on a regular run go fortnightly.
Do you take the cuttings away?
Yes, lifted and away. Grass left lying in rows kills the lawn underneath it.
Can you cut it if it has not been done all year?
Yes, but that is a first cut rather than a regular one — it takes longer and it usually gets done in stages. After that it can go onto a normal run.
Do I have to be in?
No, as long as John can get to the garden. A lot of the regular runs happen while people are at work.
Do you do the edges too?
Yes, where they need it. Tell him when he prices it.
